Rules of the European Championships of Cross-country Skiing Marathons

The European Union of Cross-country skiing marathons organizes the open European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons every year.
The European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons consist of 2 valued races in classical and free technique. The following rules are valid.

Location: Both races at the same location and on the same weekend.

Number of the races: 2 races CT + FT = valuation (times will be added)

Length of the tracks: At least one race has to be 42 km; the 2nd race has to be at least 30 km. The maximum length shouldn’t exceed 50 km.  

Eligible is each person, who has a valid Euroloppet Passport (license) and completed the 18th year until January 01st in the event's year.
The competitions are held open. There is no limitation of nationality.

The Championships are held with the agreement of the FIS rules for popular cross-country skiing races (ICR)

Eligible is each person, who has a valid EUC license
(Euroloppet Passport = License, valid for 10 years) and who has completed the 18th year of one’s life until January 1st of the year of the event.

Awarding of two races:

"European Ski Marathon Champion"
Precondition: At least 20 women/ men in the ranking (overall)

"European Ski Marathon Team-Champion" - Team valuation
Precondition: At least 6 Teams in the ranking

Awarding of single age groups:- Awarding example: "European Ski Marathon Champion - Age group winner H46"- Each age group (5 years classification) will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals for the ranks 1 -3.

 

 

The following trophies and medals will be awarded:  

Women (overall) Rank 1 to 3
European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons trophies + medals: gold, silver, bronze  

Men (overall) Rank 1 to 3
European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons trophies + medals: gold, silver, bronze

Team Rank 1 to 3
European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons trophies + medals;
- gold, silver, bronze for each team member

European Ski Marathon Championships Age Group Ranking: Winner’s medals for each age group (men and women)
gold, silver, bronze

Rules single valuation:  

The times of both valued race will be added.
(= Valuation European Ski Marathon Championships)

Each participant, who is registered for the European Ski Marathon Championships and absolved both valued races, will be listed in the ranking of the European Ski Marathon Championships. (age group valuation and overall valuation)

Additionally, each participant will be listed in the result lists of the hosting race.

Rules team valuation:

The times, of each valued race, of the three fastest team members will be added.
Both team times of the valued races will be added and make the team time.

Team configuration:

At least three up to max. four participants can register for a team.
The participants has to be registered in the single valuation.


- No national or club limitation
- Teams can be registered as a company’s, club’s or free team.
- Men and women can be mixed.

Starting lineup:

At each race of the European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons, the absolutely first line is the elite line of the European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons.

1st Race

The best 15 men and best 5 women of the overall ranking of the European Ski Marathon Championships of the year before start in the elite starting lineup of the European Ski Marathon Championships. Additional elite runners with proof.

2nd Race

The best 15 men and the best 5 women after the first race start in the European Ski Marathon Championships elite starting lineup.
